Leveller Story Meeting
November 4 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Hey Levellers, it’s a new publication year and we’re in need of people for Mighty Volume Sixteen of The Leveller! This is also a good time to remind everyone of our increased honorariums:
- $85 per written article
- $35 for editing, photojournalism and illustrations per article.
- $115 for features over 300 words with original reporting.
Join us for our next story meeting on Monday, 4 November 7PM. While we’re working on in-person/hybrid meetings, we’re still online here: meet.jit.si/LevellerNovember2024StoryMeeting
Story Meetings are where you can pitch article ideas, help brainstorm content, or be assigned a story. They’re also a way to learn about the Leveller and introduce yourself.
Can’t make it? That’s not a problem. Email operations@leveller.ca to pitch us a story any time. We’re following a schedule listed at the bottom of this email.
Unfortunately, we’re blocked on Meta’s Facebook, Instagram and Threads (hah), so we can’t promote there. Please forward this email to your friends and colleagues, as well as follow and share our posts:
Mastodon: @leveller_ottawa@mastodon.online
BlueSky: @theleveller.bsky.social
Lemmy: /u/leveller_ottawa
Twitter/X: @leveller_ottawa
Our Production Cycle is monthly. The due date for the next batch of articles will be 18 November with a publication date on 25 November. During the week before publishing, editors and proofreaders will be assigned to work with writers on their articles.
Our Guides will help you understand expectations for contributing. Please take a look at our Submission Guidelines if you would like to get published. Our Leveller News & Analysis Writing Guide provides the framework for our stories. Please read the Honourarium Policy for information on being paid.
Check out other ways to get involved with The Leveller – including joining the Editorial Board.
